well said! Social media is apart of the world we live in no doubt. Your work has to live in it to be exposed and consumed by many. Renell for example, most consume her work through a tag from many reputable sources and tastemakers. She doesn’t have to post anymore to gain work. Her portfolio is steady being built while her current work is still getting posted and reposted in different conversations. I think social media is just about positioning yourself and your brand in the ecosystem.

Social media is all about positioning! and just putting yourself out there. Renell is an extremely rare case but that's why she's renell! *Shrugs*

Content is really essential. I worked in retail (Saks fifth Avenue) and I would have days where I didn't post showing my IG followers what I had in store and I made literally zero dollars and then on days where I would set time aside to take pictures/videos of what I had and actually posted it, I received feedback and people would actually come in store to purchase things or even ordered online. The digital era is real.

So true! Fashion is one of those industries where content is VITAL for sales. It's such a visual industry. Thank you so much Charise for sharing.

This is goooood - I definitely am constantly resisting the urge to just live IRL and create without all the social interactions but I do think it’s a huge piece of our jobs (& yes it’s definitely a job) the question for me is always around - if I share the content I want, will it connect the dots for the clients I’m trying to attract & how do I find the happy medium?

Still learning, growing, don’t have all the answers yet but this definitely inspired me to move my own content strategy up on the to do list lol

This was very helpful for me. I am in a weird place on trying to figure out my purpose. Being a creative sometimes the hardest thing is figuring out what that is. Then after purpose is figured out knowing how you want to communicate/market your work while building a community at same time. Social media is one thing but even for example these newsletters. I am seeing more and more people create these and building a real community. Finding my way has been hard but this read gave me the confirmation I needed. Nothing will happen if i dont post, if dont write that blog post, if i dont send out that newsletter. Social media is our boss and I need to show up to work everyday.

Just start somewhere and work your way up from there! Once you get momentum, it's hard to completely stop.

Welcome back!! I loved reading this.

I’d love to hear about how you manage to keep Nüclei content disconnected from you especially when you’re the face, and it’s connected to you in that way.

Social Media has lowkey transformed Marketing.... It's not the same anymore. It's almost like marketing is a game of who can grab the most attention from the most people instead of how can i get in front of the right people?

As a tattoo artist I definitely feel like I can't maintain clientele without posting on socials. It is unfortunate but I try to have fun with it and make it work for me!

I liked this and that you have an example of yourself and another artist. I’ve thought of this topic too often, and you’re right, it really comes down to doing the work (more than you want) no matter what path you go down. A hard pill to swallow when it feels like social media feels like the only way, especially with how much it consumes majority of people, aka your potential audience.

I really like this perspective. I’ve been trying to get away from the content creator identity and really diving into the creative element. Letting my current state of being influence my content more than trends.
